Energy from Waste
- Overview
Engsolve was engaged by PowerHouse Energy Group to provide expert client representation during the Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase of a groundbreaking commercial waste-to-energy facility planned for the Midlands. This high-profile project focused on the deployment of advanced thermal conversion technology to convert non-recyclable waste into clean energy, supporting the UK’s drive towards circular economy solutions and reduced landfill dependency.
- Description of Services
Engsolve was appointed to act on behalf of PowerHouse Energy as the client-side engineering representative throughout the FEED phase. The project was led by a senior Engsolve Project Manager and supported by a multidisciplinary team of engineers, providing strategic oversight and technical scrutiny throughout the design process.
Key responsibilities included:
- Design Oversight and Technical Review: Engsolve rigorously reviewed the FEED deliverables issued by the primary design contractor. This included checking for technical accuracy, alignment with project objectives, and compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Project Governance: The team ensured that all aspects of the FEED phase were delivered within the agreed timelines, budget constraints, and scope—helping to de-risk the project before entering the detailed engineering and construction phases.
- Client Representation: Engsolve served as the technical liaison between PowerHouse Energy and the external design team. This involved managing communications, resolving queries, and ensuring that the evolving design reflected the client’s strategic and operational expectations.
- Stakeholder Reporting: Throughout the process, Engsolve provided clear, concise updates to the client, including risk assessments, progress tracking, and actionable insights to support timely decision-making.
Outcome
By representing PowerHouse Energy during the FEED process, Engsolve ensured the project progressed efficiently, transparently, and in line with client expectations. Our role provided critical assurance that the design phase laid a solid foundation for a successful commercial deployment—minimising risk, maximising value, and ensuring that sustainability, innovation, and compliance were built into the project from the outset.
This case study highlights Engsolve’s strength in acting as a trusted engineering partner for clients navigating complex infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy and environmental technology sectors.
