Overview
TrimTabs are pioneering the advancement of Carbon NanoTubes (CNTs). The initial production system was engineered with TrimTabs, then fabricated and installed by Engsolve in order to facilitate the patented production process commercialisation.
Description of Services
To meet the TrimTabs requirements, the project demanded the full commitment of the Engsolve team to ensure delivery and installation within a short lead time. Engsolve collaborated closely with the TrimTabs team to understand their patented process, review their concept, and from this develop the project to a Minimum Viable Production level.
Process flow diagrams were developed alongside Heat and Mass Balances (HMBs) for the process, using UniSim and data from TrimTabs for the kiln reactions. Various HMBs were produced to account for different production scenarios. Upon approval, the Engsolve team then developed the P&IDs for the process installation. These were reviewed and a risk review conducted to ensure all necessary devices and control loops were included in the design. Subsequently, Engsolve identified and procured all necessary equipment, including the kiln, vessels, quench, piping, tubing, instruments, valves, and structures required for the process. Engsolve managed the various contractor teams to fabricate and install the process in our facility, overseeing electrical and mechanical installations, electrical testing, control panel installation, and initial testing.
Engsolve conducted the initial commissioning of the unit, verifying the functionality of the control and safety systems, as well as ensuring that all instrumentation and controls operated as required. Trim Tabs then completed commissioning with process fluids with the support of the Engsolve team.
The successful installation of the new unit positions TrimTabs to continue its growth trajectory towards Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 9. We are enthusiastic about the ongoing development of this cutting-edge technology at our facility in Bridgend, driving further innovation and value creation.
